Honey Jam 2007 was Toronto’s best female artist showcase of the year. Held on August 12th at the Mod Club by birthday girl, Ebonnie and her crew, this year’s roster included Denosh, who is currenly singing backp on Justin Timberlake’s world wide tour, FutureSex/LoveSounds. Over 70 artists have played Honey Jam for the over the past 10 years including chart toppers, Nelly Furtado and Jully Black.
The hosts of the night were enough to cause a buzz. Much Music’s Matt Babel and Degrassi’s Andrea Lewis fed off each other’s energy, while the female exclusive lineup paid homage to some of the industry’s giants ranging from Christina Aguilera to Leanne Rhymes. Needless to say, the talent was raw, poignant and delivered beyond expectation. While covers of “Impossible” and “How do I Live” gave the crowd something to sing along to, original tracks were performed equally well.
Honey Jam is dedicated to showcasing all-female, homegrown talent. I look forward to seeing it evolve and would definitely recommend showing your support at Honey Jam 2008.
