Slowly But Surely
We are pleased to present our very first Arts-Crafts artist from Montreal, Quebec, Stars! Selling out 4 consecutive shows at the Phoenix Concert Theater in Toronto, Stars have called this the best week of their lives. With 3 albums under their belt and nearly 10 years as a band, Stars have carved their own path with their noses to the grind-stone day after day never losing motivation.
Some say it’s time to throw in the towel after an artist reaches 25 years of age, feeling that the commercial viability of marketing an older artist is too high a risk for certain genres. What’s worse, is that most artists or bands will throw in the towel after 4 or 5 years of development with little to no success, even while in their prime at 22 years of age or younger. Sadly, very few experience success as quickly as Alexisonfire or Los Campesinos! where they go from recording a demo in their basement to producing a state-of-the-art album for an international release followed by a world wide tour in less than 2 years.
Admirably, Stars, like many more artists such as Hayden or No Doubt, have dedicated their lives to their craft for many more years before reaching stardom. They are an inspiring example of building it slowly but surely. This sold out series of shows at the Phoenix Concert Theater is the result of their consistent efforts to chip away daily and above all, be patient. They’ve taken the route of “Do It Yourself” to boot, calling their own shots and having complete creative control. That’s something most younger artists sacrifice by being quick to sign on to that “record deal” and potentially much more.
