Today I bonded with my great-uncle… he’s 75 years old but has the heart/spirit of a 25 year old (but he can’t keep up :p). In the evening we went to a bar for a drink, I listened to his stories about war and we then went for a stroll along the river where we saw dozens of people living in house boats.
We stumbled upon an italian restaurant and both ordered a Tuna dish with penne that was truly exquisite. A real simple dish anyone can make at home with some tomato sauce, a slice of lemon, a can of tuna and some penne pasta. He sweet talked the owner into giving us a free glass of wine being that he’s affiliated with the press (a snitch really lol). We got along so well that he decided to join me for my performance tonight… oh the poor bugger.
Picture this, a 75 year old man who had trouble walking along the river with me, puts on a dress shirt with a blazer, shaves, combs his hair, does his very best to look sharp to be my partner in crime at the club
I don’t know if that’s cure or stupid. The poor man could hardly keep his eyes open by the time I hit the stage which was at 11:40 pm…
When I got off stage and he was ready to leave, but then I got bombarded with a slew of kids who wanted to buy my CD and have a word with “Christien le Canadien”. By the time the 5th fan came up to talk to me and I still hadn’t packed my bags, he starts looking at his watch and I could see he was dying. He asked if I was ready to go yet and the sound of his voice was raspy… he doesn’t smoke, he was just that tired.
Finally we got back to his place, and like a 25 year old he dropped his pants in the hall, threw his jacket on the floor and hoped into bed… that was the first time I ever saw him do such a thing. He’d normally hang up his coat, have a tea, brush his teeth and watch some tv… but not tonight… no he was partied out because of me
