Arts & Crafts has announced their Canadian Music Fest 2010 showcase for Thursday, March 11 at The Great Hall.  Doors will open at 8pm with performances starting at 9pm on the hour.  Tickets will be available at Ticketmaster and CMW Badges accepted.

The showcase will feature Timber Timbre making his first Toronto performance of 2010 and first since being declared the Eye Weekly “Cross-Canada Music Critic Poll” winner for #1 Album of 2009.  The bill includes Arts & Crafts management client, Dan Mangan, who also celebrated an incredibly successful 2009 with his sophomore album, Nice, Nice, Very Nice.  And Sally Seltmann will be making her first Canadian appearance since 2007 in advance of her new album, first under her own name, Heart That’s Pounding, out April 6.  The Great Hall will provide a fantastic backdrop to this incredible, intimate evening.

Timber Timbre released this self-titled, third lp originally in January 2009 on Out Of This Spark before being picked up by Arts & Crafts and seeing the album released internationally.  Timber Timbre earned a nomination to the Polaris Music Prize long list, the cover of the Eye Weekly in July, and spent the fall touring the U.S. and Canada relentlessly including supporting Owen Pallett out west and performances on U.S. tastemaker radio stations KCRW in LA and KEXP in Seattle.

Dan Mangan released his sophomore album, Nice, Nice, Very Nice in Canada. The album shot to #1 on the iTunes Canada Singer/Songwriter Album chart and #1 at Canadian College radio. Rave reviews came from heavy hitting national music-mags as well as countless blogs and print media. Then came the news that Dan had won XM Radio’s ‘Artist Of The Year’ as well as CBC Radio prizes for vocalist and song of the year (“Robots”). Britain’s NME magazine featured him as one of Canada’s most promising acts. 2010 will see releases throughout Europe, America and Australia.

Sally Seltmann released two acclaimed albums under the moniker New Buffalo and is an APRA Award Winner (Australian Grammys/Junos).  She is perhaps best known in North America though as the co-writer of the hit song “1234”, performed by Feist.  Seltmann has toured Europe, North America and Australia with such artists as Cat Power, Feist, Bright Eyes, Stars, The Concretes and Broken Social Scene, performed a duet with Jens Lekman, and her albums have featured such guests as Beth Orton and Jim White from The Dirty Three.  Seltmann will release the first album under her own name this April.
