Catch the Billboard in Español Showcase at SXSW!

96781.jpgOnce their 2001 debut Extrañado Casa earned them the distinction of being one of the first Mexican bands to play American-style latter-day punk with Spanish language lyrics, Division Minuscula has become a top contender in the alternative music scene in Mexico, and US listeners have started to take notice. The group continues to prove their musical range through other recordings of loud, punchy guitars as well as softer, lyrically focused songs, and they will be headlining the Billboard en Español showcase at the Billboard.com Bungalo this year.

Uruguayan DJ Patafunk will start out the show with his solid mix of sounds rooted in soul-funk while incorporating elements of surf rock, Latin Jazz, and more, followed by emerging reggae and rock act No Te Va Gustar, also from Uruguay.

97754.jpgYou can also catch Argentine group Banda de Turistas and Colombia’s up and coming Bambarabanda, as well as the Mexican-born, California-raised Gustavo Galindo. Galindo, whose last album was produced by fellow SXSW performer and legendary producer Gustavo Santaolalla, gracefully crosses cultures and languages by pairing the longing of Mexican folk songs with the textures of the American rock he grew up with.

Be sure to register today to check out this eclectic mix of artists on Wednesday, March 17 starting at 8:00pm.
