The LP Questionnaire/Pick Three – Ian Fosbery of The Coast

The Olympics may be over but my love affair with Canada is not. Did you guys see William Shatner on the closing ceremonies? That was all kinds of bananas. If you missed it, you missed out.

Here are some more Canadians, who I am also super fond of, that you don’t have to miss out on. Toronto lads The Coast are playing at Lambert’s on Wednesday, March 17 at 11pm. They write lovely songs that remind me of excellent times and moonlit skies and nights when we remember what it is to be young. Unless you, err, are young… then you remember that every night, I suppose.

Guitarist Ian Fosbery was kind enough to subject himself to The LP Questionnaire and do a Pick Three for you guys. Did you know that Fosbery has a degree in Aerospace Engineering? He said, “I could build you a plane. It probably wouldn’t fly, though… my grades weren’t that good.” Well… that’s… you know… reassuring… at least the degree sounds impressive.

While I’m off canceling all my future flights you can read on and enjoy…

The LP Questionnaire
Name: Ian Fosbery
Pro Wrestling Name: Jesus Volcano

1. Pretend you’re 15. Name three songs you’d put on a mix tape for your girlfriend/boyfriend. It would be 1996. And if I knew then what I know now they would be:

Like Dylan In The Movies – Belle & Sebastian
Real Love – The Beatles
Hallelujah – Jeff Buckley (Actually kind of depressing for a 15 year old to put on a mix tape for his girlfriend, but you don’t really think about that stuff when you’re 15 – it just sounds awesome and would hopefully impress the girl.)

If I didn’t know then what I know now:

Live Forever – Oasis
All I Need – Method Man feat. MJB
You Were Meant For Me – Jewel

Wow….how confusing would that be if we were dating? Unfortunate.

2. Which evil villain would make the best President? Dr. Octopus, Dr.Doom…any doctor. No offense, but you guys need someone who really understands healthcare.

3. What was your favorite cartoon as a child? Age 7: Thundercats, Age 9: TMNT, Age 11: Tiny Toons, Age 13: Discovered Porn…Cartoons became a memory and it was all downhill.

4. What superpower do you wish you had? In this economy? The ability to spontaneously generate money.

5. What would the title of your autobiography be? I recently grew my first moustache, so I’m gonna go with Tache: How Life Can Begin At 29

Pick Three
Surfer Blood: I’ve heard many a good thing from people I trust.

The Besnard Lakes: Unfortunately I’ve never seen them and I hope to rectify that.

The Antlers: Hospice is amazing.

I can’t believe it’s only Monday. I’m having a real Dilbert moment here. Oh God, I put it out there to the internet that I’m a loser who references Dilbert. Sigh. It’s going to be one of those weeks, I think. Check back here later, taters, for some Pick Three swell times with Ben Blackwell from Third Man Records.
